Background

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is the largest individual member organization serving managers, engineers, scientists and other professionals worldwide in the upstream segment of the oil and gas industry. SPE has more than 158,000 members in 143 countries, in 203 sections and 382 student chapters. SPE's membership includes more than 73,000 student members.

Mission

To collect, disseminate, and exchange technical knowledge concerning the exploration, development and production of oil and gas resources, and related technologies for the public benefit; and to provide opportunities for professionals to enhance their technical and professional competence.

Our student section's purpose is to provide the means for collection, dissemination, and exchange of technical information concerning the development of oil and gas resources, subsurface fluid flow, and production of other materials through well bores for the public benefit; and to provide opportunities through its programs for interested and qualified individuals to maintain and upgrade their individual technical competence in the aforementioned areas for the public benefit.
